Featuring a high-resolution Retina display, an A10 Fusion chip, 802.11b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi support, an 8MP rear-facing camera, stereo speakers, and battery life up to 10 hours, this 2018 model is a solid piece of tech. And with a price this low, Apple's hardware is particularly alluring.
PCMag's Sascha Segan reviewed this most recent model, and gave it an Excellent score of 4/5. The substantial specs, incredible selection of games and apps, and support for the Apple Pencil leads to this tablet earning both an Editors' Choice award and a spot on our Best of the Year list.
While the $99 Apple Pencil is a significant additional expense, it's a superb accessory for creative folks. And now that it's also compatible with mid-range iPads, the barrier to entry is significantly smaller.
