Saving your iPhone battery life, doctors at Apple, and potential iPhone bans on the AppleInsider Podcast

Jason Applebaum, CEO of Evercharge.net

This week on the AppleInsider Podcast, Victor speaks with Jason Appelbaum, CEO of Evercharge.net about changing our charging habits to increase battery longevity. Victor and William talk about Qualcomm, injunctions banning iPhone sales, and more.

AppleInsider editor Victor Marks and writer William Gallagher discuss:

  • Jason Appelbaum, CEO of Evercharge.net joins to talk, and schools Victor on good charging habits.
  • Apple is building a huge $1B HQ2 in Austin, Texas-and increasing employment around the US.
  • Qualcomm was granted an injunction agains iPhone sales in China, and is pushing for one in the United States.
  • Apple interprets the Chinese injunction differently than Qualcomm does, and continues to sell new iPhones in China. We'll see how that strategy works for the both of them.
  • Meanwhile, it's becoming clear that Apple wants to make their own cellular modem and not be dependent on Qualcomm going forward.
  • Apple has as many as 50 doctors on staff. Cardiologists, Pediatricians, Orthopedic surgeons. Apple is going to be a force in changing how we use consumer devices in health going forward. Victor thinks ECG is just the beginning.
  • Apple's streaming service picks up a Sony exec to head up casting. William is skeptical.
  • Intel details a product roadmap using 3D chip stacking for new CPUs. Look for potential Mac Pro and iMac Pro updates in 2019.
  • Algoriddim (we talked with Michael Simmons last week) launches their new djay for iOS app, for free with Pro features available by subscription.
  • Verizon enables eSIM activation via the MyVerizon app, instead of a clunky QR code activation process. It appears to work only for new customers, not existing ones, but this is cool if you have an XR, XS, or XS Max.
