We watch with both horror and fascination those videos where someone rips apart the latest Apple gadget to see how it is built.
But one member of the r/iPhone thread on Reddit took the dismantling of his iPhone 4 in a different direction: He artfully arranged the pieces for a framed keepsake.

The short video clip that pans across the spectrum of pieces glued to the glass of the frame drew more than 4,000 views along with hundreds of responses.
Some indicated they were ready to pull a dead phone from their junk drawer to give it a try. One suggested the craftsperson begin a side business accepting commissions to frame others’ beloved handsets.
The gutted iPhone art project by TheIncorporeal didn’t impress everyone.
“Why is this a thing?” wrote one Reddit user. “I don’t get it. Gonna go frame my 11-year-old pair of jeans I’ve had since 7th grade, but I’m gonna pull it apart thread by thread first.”
Hitting play on the clip repeatedly has the same hypnotic effect of looking at an aquarium full of fish, except with the iPhone components floating in a uniform and modular formation.
TheIncorporeal did not provide a ton of details, other than it took them most of a day.
“Ideally, I would also have a pane of glass overtop to the protect it from dust but I didn’t want to spend the time to shop for the perfect frame,” the person wrote. “I just use one lying around the house. It was a spur-of-the-moment sort of thing and it did not occur to me that I might be able to sell these, so I don’t know about that.”
The Incorporeal used “typical household glue,” but with other obsolete phones on hand, “I might try something sturdier next time.”
