Apple's $29 iPhone Battery Replacement Plan Ends January 1

Around a year ago Apple admitted to slowing down the batteries in older iPhones, and it offered to replace the battery in all phones newer than an iPhone 6 for $29 — as long as you got that battery replacement by December 31st. That means time is running out.

Starting January 1, the cost of that battery replacement goes up again to $69 for the iPhone X and $49 for older devices.

So, if you have an iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, or iPhone X with a less-than-stellar battery, now’s the time to go ahead and make that Apple Store appointment to get it fixed (actually the time was probably a year ago, if we’re being honest).

The Apple Store is likely going to be a madhouse after the holidays, so you might want to book that Genius Bar appointment as late in the month as you can — just make sure you get in before the end of the 31st.
