Apple recently dropped Qualcomm as their primary provider for 5G hardware after a long dispute with the company. The company then disclosed that they won’t be making 5G devices until at least 2020. However, a new report says that Apple might be having issues acquiring the components required to make a 5G device.

The news come from Cowen Research, who say that Apple is “in a difficult position” given its reliance on Intel’s modem products, and it has four options to deal with the situation, “none of which is ideal.” According to a report published by Bloomberg, Apple could “source a 5G modem from chief competitor Samsung” but it will come only on “tough commercial terms.” One option for Apple is to make peace with Qualcomm but it might be too late for the Cupertino giant. Lastly, Apple could ditch everyone and develop components internally but it might cost the company a good amount of money.
