HP’s Ginormous Omen X Emperium 65 144Hz G-SYNC HDR Display Is Now Available

During CES 2019 at the beginning of the year, HP rolled out a massive gaming monitor for gamers wanting the most screen space possible. The giant monitor was called the Omen X 65 Emperium, and we got to spend some hands-on time with it at the show. HP gave it an equally gigantic price of $4,999; so if you have been saving your pennies to put one of these on your desk, the time is now.

HP is offering the Omen X Emperium 65 now, with shipping in 1 business day, for $4,999. If you don't recall what makes this monitor so special, as far as features go, don't fret, we will run them down for you below.

The Emperium 65 display has built-in NVIDIA SHIELD TV, a quartet of USB ports, and a trio of HDMI ports. Three HDMI ports means you can use the screen for your game consoles or cable box. HP also integrated mood lighting into the dispaly that throws colors on the wall behind the TV that mimic the colors of the action on the screen. Philips offers a similar lighting experience on some of its TVs called Ambilight.

The key features that gamers will want to know include that the DisplayPort 1.4 connection on the back supports refresh rates of 144Hz and the display supports HDR10 along with peak brightness rating of 1000 nits and NVIDIA G-Sync. The native resolution is 3840 x 2160 @ 4K, and it covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Integrated sound features a 3-stereo amp and a 120W sound bar with LOFAR tech for a dynamic range of sound promised to let you hear where your enemies are. One of the cooler features is a proximity light that senses when your hand is near and lights up the inputs on the back of the screen, so you don't have to dig out a flashlight.
