Unc0ver v3.0.0 beta 44 released with ‘partial’ A12(X) support

Shortly after announcing that he had managed a root filesystem remount on A12 and A12X devices with read and write privileges, hacker and unc0ver lead developer Pwn20wnd has released another revision for the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release, bringing the public beta jailbreak tool up to beta version 44.

Citing Pwn20wnd’s announcement on Twitter, unc0ver v3.0.0 beta 44 brings ‘partial’ support for A12 and A12X devices:

The official changelog on Pwn20wnd’s GitHub repository notes the following changes in this release:

03/11/2019 – v3.0.0~b44 was released for public testing with the following changes:

– Enable partial (Export/Un-Export Kernel Task Port, Set HSP4 as TFP0, Dump APTicket, Overwrite Boot Nonce, Log Slide, Log ECID, Disable Auto Updates, Remount RootFS, Disable App Revokes, Restore RootFS) iOS 12.0 – 12.1.2 support for A12-A12X devices

– Update the APT lists cache file for repositories

For those wondering, ‘partial’ support means that this tool can grant users access to their root filesystem on A12 and A12X devices, but it will not install Cydia or Cydia Substrate (yet) as they aren’t yet prepared to work on this small subset of devices. We expect that will change soon, however.

It’s worth noting that the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release is still a beta, and while it might be tempting to hop onboard right now, we’d strongly advise waiting for the official public release to prevent any possible bugs from manifesting.

These ‘partial’ support releases are really only intended for developers, and allow them to prepare tweaks to support iOS 12. Users will get the most benefit from their jailbreak when Cydia and Cydia Substrate are added in the future.

Those already jailbroken on iOS 12 with the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release are being advised to download and run this update as soon as possible to take full advantage of the new features and improvements.

The latest public release of the unc0ver jailbreak tool is v2.2.6 with support for iOS 11.0-11.4 beta 4 – the unc0ver v3.0.0 pre-release is the only iteration that supports iOS 11.4-11.4.1. Both versions of the unc0ver jailbreak tool can be had from Pwn20wnd’s official GitHub repository.
