Both the general public and developers can now download the second beta of iOS 12.3. When the final version is available, it will bring significant improvements to the Apple TV app. The latest beta continues to add features.

A second public beta of macOS Mojave 10.14.5 also just debuted. This is a bug-fix release.

Revamping the Apple TV app

The Apple TV app has been around for years, but earlier versions tended to emphasize buying video from iTunes. With iOS 12.3, the software highlights shows on third-party video services that the user subscribes to. Or the user can subscribe to new services in this app, with Apple taking a share of the subscription fees.

Apple’s goal is for this to become the hub for all iPhone or iPad users’ video entertainment. And it’s part of getting ready for this fall’s Apple TV+ streaming video service.

The second iOS 12.3 beta of Apple TV adds a splash screen, added Epix as a channel and makes this software less buggy.

There are also improvements in the Wallet app in the runup to the Apple Card’s debut.

Anyone who’s feeling brave enough to put pre-release software on their iPhone or iPad can sign up for the Apple Beta Software Program and download the latest iOS pre-release version. It’s free and not overly complicated.

Registered developers can grab this beta directly from Apple’s online developer portal. Though they probably already have it, as they could access it before the general public. This requires paying a $100 annual fee.
