Dubai: Cisco has been ranked amongst the 5 ‘Best Workplaces in the UAE’ by Great Place to Work® (GPTW), a Human Resources consultancy firm that identifies the best workplaces in over 50 countries worldwide.

Cisco UAE was recognized for its people-focused approach and the promotion of its ‘Conscious Culture’, which empowers employees by understanding their needs to facilitate creativity and create satisfaction in its workplaces.

In its debut year (2018), Cisco was ranked ninth in the UAE by GPTW and has climbed five spots to fourth position this year, thanks to its commitment to continuously improving workplace culture. The nation’s 30 best employers were announced during an awards ceremony at Jumeriah Zabeel Saray on the 17th of April. Each organization’s position was determined by confidential employee feedback using the Great Place to Work Trust Index© and an audit of management policies and practices.

The GPTW survey considers a range of performance criteria, including management credibility, employee engagement and job satisfaction, in addition to pay and benefits programs, the hiring process and personal development to provide a comprehensive overview of working life with each company. From upskilling via training initiatives, to diversity and inclusion programs, many efforts are being made by Cisco to improve workplace culture. Cisco also places great importance on giving back to the community. Each year, every employee is given the opportunity to spend 5 paid working days contributing towards community or charity-related activities

“Being ranked amongst the top ten workplaces in the UAE for the second year in a row is a testament to our commitment to building a positive working environment for our employees. Our vision of ‘changing the way we live, work, learn and play’ starts in our offices. At Cisco, innovation is not limited to core business operations but is practiced throughout our organizational structure, including our biggest asset – our people. We believe that building a conducive work environment encourages an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Greater self-awareness and accountability help our employees improve and creates a positive impact for the company,” Shukri Eid, Managing Director – East Region, Cisco Middle East said.

High-tech and collaborative environments empower Cisco’s employees to work with greater flexibility and agility – in a way that suits their personal schedule best. To allow for travel-related needs and personal contingencies, applications such as Cisco TelePresence and Webex enable employees to communicate efficiently from a range of environments.

“Cisco has always been a forward-thinking organization, keeping its people at its core and finding unique ways of helping employees grow, all while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. At Cisco, I know that my work is meaningful and that I can learn from my colleagues and add value each day,” said Dorian Breakspear-Coyle, Regional Sales Manager, EMEAR Distribution, who has been working at Cisco for 15 years.

Commenting on this year’s Best Workplaces list, Maha Zaatari, Managing Director of Great Place to Work in the UAE, said: “The Best Workplaces list recognizes organizations that have demonstrated a truly serious commitment to creating workplaces that foster trust, pride and camaraderie amongst their employees. Every organization that made it onto the list should be proud of this noteworthy accomplishment. Based on our annual benchmarking study, we can say, without a doubt, that these 30 companies are the best workplaces in the UAE. Congratulations to all the list makers.”
