XPS chief Frank Azor has been fielding some questions on Twitter in regard to the Dell XPS 15 and its expected OLED panel update. The executive effusively responded “yes” to one question about whether it was coming but had less positive answers for other inquiries. Unfortunately, there is still no fixed timeframe for the OLED option.

We reported at the beginning of the month about how Dell’s Alienware m15 lineup had finally received an option in the configurator for OLED screens, but it seems there’s still no sight of the same choice for the XPS 15, although there is still a week of April left.

However, along with a gif of the Carlton dance, Azor gave a definitive “yes” to an inquiry about OLED coming to the XPS 15. But to whether the OLED option was going to be offered on the Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 convertible laptop he only had “no sorry” to answer. It also seems there is no plan for a white XPS 15 in the near future, either.

Another tweeter confronted the Dell executive about the missing OLED option for the XPS 15, questioning how the series can claim to be on the “forefront” of technology. Azor responded with “show me an XPS competitor that is offering OLED today”. The man has a point: For example, Razer just announced the new Advanced Model of the Blade 15 that comes with an OLED 4K Touch option, but the “Add to Cart” button changes to “Notify Me” when you select the OLED screen in Razer’s configurator.

So no XPS 15 2-in-1 with OLED panel, no white version of the upcoming refreshed model planned, and still no OLED choice for the regular laptop series. Perhaps if the long-awaited display option doesn’t turn up in April, it might be penciled in for a June release to fit in nicely with the scheduled 9th Gen Intel Core chips and Nvidia GeForce 16 series GPU upgrades that are coming for the Dell XPS 15.
