AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Anniversary Edition Pictured With Laser-Etched Celebrity Autograph Signature
More information about AMD's upcoming Ryzen 7 2700X 50th Anniversary Edition processor is finding its way online ahead of its anticipated release next week. If the latest leaked images are any indication, part of what will make the Anniversary Edition SKU unique from the regular Ryzen 7 2700X is AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su's laser engraved signature.

PC Connection, an IT solutions company headquartered in New Hampshire, appears to have jumped the gun by listing the unreleased SKU early. The product page has been taken offline (undoubtedly either at the behest of AMD, or voluntarily after the company's web team realized the error), but not before Videocardz could swipe the press renders.
The most interesting one is what's shown above. We have already seen leaked images of the gold and black packaging, but this is the first time we have spied the actual CPU. It has the number "50" on it, along with Dr. Su's laser etched signature.

Nothing has been confirmed just yet, but if the listing proves accurate, then the special packaging and signature are the only things unique. According to the ghosted listing, the Anniversary Edition model will sport the same specs as the regular Ryzen 7 2700X—8 cores and 16 threads clocked at 3.7GHz to 4.3GHz, with 16GB of L3 cache.
Quite frankly, that's a little disappointing, depending on the price point. We surmised that AMD might bump up the clocks on the Anniversary Edition CPU, perhaps even with an aggressive 5GHz boost clock, by way of using specially binned chips. But for now, that doesn't appear to be the case.
It's not that the Ryzen 7 2700X is a bad chip—far from it, actually. However, while the signature is nifty and all, once you plop it inside your PC and slap a cooler on top (it comes with a Wraith Prism cooler), nobody's going to see it.
As for pricing, that remains to be seen. PC Connection's listing had it marked at $373.09. Over on Amazon, you can grab a regular Ryzen 7 2700X for $292.99 (on sale from $329). Oddly enough, PC Connection has the regular version priced at $419.64 right now, so take all these numbers with a pinch of salt.
The Ryzen 7 2700X 50th Anniversary Edition is expected to launch on April 29. Word on the web is that AMD will also unveil a Radeon VII 50th Anniversary Edition at the same time.
