Pandora has announced that it’ll be adding new student and military discounts for its premium streaming service. Pandora’s Student Plan will cost $4.99 per month, while the Military Plan will cost $7.99. Both will offer access to the same Pandora Premium service as the regular, $9.99 full-price plan.

Pandora’s Student Plan is available to eligible students for up to four years, while the Military Plan will be offered to active duty service members, reservists, retirees, veterans, and military family members.

It’s by no means the first discount of this sort. Apple Music, Tidal, and Spotify also offer $4.99 per month student plans, for example, with Tidal offering a military discount, too. That said, Spotify’s student plan is still the best of the bunch for sheer value, considering it also includes Hulu and Showtime subscriptions for the same $5 monthly fee.

Pandora’s offerings are very much on par with the current slate, and given its underdog status in the overall streaming landscape, it might have been a better idea to try to undercut Apple and Spotify even further, if only to offer a compelling reason for students to switch away from the more popular services. Still, at the very least, it’s not playing at a disadvantage like it was before.
