AMD announces new Ryzen CPUs and Radeon GPUs for gaming

For E3 this year, AMD announced a new APU and some new GPUs that are aimed at gaming, just as you'd expect. In the CPU department, we have the new third-gen Ryzen 9 3950X, which AMD is saying is the very first 16-core mainstream desktop processor.

Model Cores/Threads TDP (Watts) Boost/Base Freq. (GHz) L2 + L3 Cache (MB) PCIe 4.0 Lanes (processor + AMD X570) SEP (USD) Expected Availability

There are three new GPUs, the Radeon RX 5700, Radeon RX 5700 XT, and Radeon RX 5700 XT 50th Anniversary Edition. Obviously, the latter product is celebrating the firm's 50th anniversary, and it has increased clock speeds and a "luxurious gold accented shroud featuring Dr. Lisa Su's signature".

Here are the product specs:

Model Compute Units Stream Processors TFLOPS GDDR6 (GB) Base Clock (MHz) Game Clock (MHz) Boost Clock (MHz) SEP (USD)
Radeon RX 5700 XT 50th Anniversary Edition 40 2,560 Up to 10.14 8 1,680 1,830 Up to 1,980 $499
Radeon RX 5700 XT 40 2,560 Up to 9.75 8 1,605 1,755 Up to 1,905 $449
Radeon RX 5700 36 2,304 Up to 7.95 8 1,465 1,625 Up to 1,725 $379

The Radeon RX 5700 family is aimed at providing a solid 1440p gaming experience. It uses the RDNA architecture which is designed for more efficiency, and it has a multi-level cache for "reduced latency, higher bandwidth and lower power". The firm is promising 1.25x performance-per-clock and 1.5x performance-per-watt.

They include Radeon Image Sharpening for sharper images, Radeon Anti-Lag, and "extreme" refresh rates with DisplayPort 1.4. The new GPUs will be available on July 7 for the prices listed above.
