Microsoft Edge is now “ready for everyday use.”

The next-generation version of the browser, built on Chromium, is still in beta for Windows and macOS. But Microsoft says it’s stable enough to become your primary window to the web.

This version of Edge promises to be Microsoft’s best yet — and the first to support macOS. It’s faster and more reliable than previous versions, and it offers new features that Edge hasn’t seen before.

“Our goal with Microsoft Edge is to create better web compatibility with better performance for our customers while ensuring less fragmentation of the web for all web developers,” Microsoft says.

The first Edge preview rolled out to macOS users back in May, and Microsoft just released the third and final build. If you haven’t already started using it, now is the time to try it out.

Microsoft Edge ready to take over your Mac

This version of Edge, although still a preview, is good enough for everyday use, Microsoft says. It comes with new ways to personalize your experience, and support for 14 languages.

With tab page customization, you can choose what you see when you open a new webpage. You can also activate Edge’s dark theme, and add your favorite extensions from the Chrome Web Store.

Other features include Windows Defender Application Guard, built-in Microsoft Search, and an Internet Explorer mode.

Edge testing a success

Microsoft says more than 1 million people have downloaded Edge during its preview phase. The company received more than 140,000 individual pieces of feedback on the betas.

If you haven’t already tried it out, download Edge for macOS from the Microsoft website today.
