What is Mario Kart Tour?

Mario Kart Tour is the mobile installment of the highly popular Mario Kart franchise. This version takes racers on a tour around the world, with courses that are inspired by real-world cities. So while you may see some familiar tracks from the console version of the game, Tour will have some brand new tracks that you won't find anywhere else. The tracks rotate out every two weeks, so there are plenty of reasons to keep coming back to play.

You'll find your favorite Mario Kart characters in Tour, such as Mario, Peach, Bowser, and others. There are a total of 35 characters, both new and old. You only start with one racer from the get-go, but can unlock the rest by playing the game.

How much does the game cost?

Mario Kart Tour has launched in the App Store and is a free download. That means that yes, there are in-app purchases for things like characters and cars. Fortunately, the game is designed in such a way that you don't have to spend any money if you don't want to.

You'll be able to play Mario Kart Tour as long as you have a device that can run iOS 10 or later. For iPhones, the oldest device that works is an iPhone 5s. For iPads, it works with iPad Air and later, iPad mini 2 and later, iPad Pro and later, and iPad 5th generation and later.
