Lenovo announces new mainstream Windows 10 PCs with 9th- and 10th-gen Intel CPUs

IdeaCentre A540

Today, Lenovo announced a couple of new Windows 10 PCs ahead of IFA, including the IdeaCentre A540 and the IdeaPad S540. As the '540' number indicates, these are meant to be mainstream PCs, but they definitely pack a punch.

Lenovo says that the IdeaCentre, pictured above, is inspired by "the balanced asymmetry of a Chinese Cypress tree", whatever that means. Weird analogies aside, the base has Dolby and JBL by Harman stereo speakers, and the top of it is a Qi wireless charging pad.

The top of the screen has a pop-up webcam, along with an IR camera for facial recognition. And of course, that means that there's a built-in privacy guard.

The display options are 24-inch 1080p or 27-inch 1440p, and it has a 93% screen-to-body ratio. It comes with Intel's 35W T-series processors, up to an octa-core Core i7-9700T. The 24-inch model comes with AMD Radeon RX 540X graphics, while the 27-inch model will get you Radeon RX 560X graphics.

The IdeaCentre A540 is coming in September, starting at $799.99 and $1,299.99 for the 24- and 27-inch models, respectively.

IdeaPad S540

And then there is the IdeaPad S540, which isn't inspired by any particular tree. This laptop weighs in at just 2.75 pounds, but it actually packs a punch given its price range. It includes Intel's new hexa-core Core i7-10710U from the Comet Lake family, along with an Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPU. If you don't like Intel, you can get it with an AMD Ryzen 7.

It also comes with a 13.3-inch QHD display, which is pretty high-resolution given the price point. Lenovo also said that the device uses its Q-Control feature, which uses machine learning to optimize battery life.

The IdeaPad S540 is coming in October, starting at $999.99.

Lenovo also announced some monitors today as part of its consumer announcement. The Lenovo L28u Monitor is a 28-inch 4K screen that supports AMD FreeSync, and it's supposed to be more comfortable on your eyes, being TÜV Rhineland Eye Comfort-certified.

The Lenovo G34w Gaming Monitor with 1500R curvature and a 21:9 aspect ratio. It's a 34-inch 1440p screen.

The Lenovo L28u Monitor is coming in November, starting at $299.99, while the G34w Gaming Monitor is coming next February, starting at $479.99.
