Apple AirPods are a huge success. At almost every point in the wireless in-ear headphones' history, the company has struggled to keep up with demand. The second-generation version arrived earlier this year. But if you wanted to take issue with the AirPods, apart from being hard to get, it could be the color.
Apple’s policy so far has been “any color so long as it’s white”. That’s still true, though there have been rumors of a black-finish AirPod coming soon. Whether they'll be announced in the upcoming Apple Cupertino event on September 1o, we'll have to see.
In the meantime, though, there are plenty of ways to liven up the look of your precious 'Pods if the cool, gloss white isn’t quite enough for you.
Apple has just showcased a series of AirPods skins in a 39-second video ad on its South Korean website, as noticed by MacRumors.
Apple doesn’t make or sell these cute cases, sadly, but it is promoting the images as ways of celebrating customers’ creativity in how they customized their AirPods cases.
Some have cases that double as keyrings, some have knitted covers and some are colored and festooned with stickers.
Apple obviously reckons they’re pretty cool – it’s front and center on the Apple website’s front page.
The video, which is below, is worth checking out because, as you can see from the images, some of these skins and cases are just tremendous.
And it has a cute tag at the end, with the AirPods logo featuring the green light from the wireless charging case as the dot on the i.
