Apple tops NSW consumer complaints register
All 36 complaints related to the George St. store in Sydney CBD.

Apple received the most consumer complaints in New South Wales for the month of July, NSW Fair Trading has revealed.

The tech giant received 36 complaints for the entire month, up from 26 complaints registered in June.

On a per-issue basis, 23 complaints were related to quality of goods, while five were about quality of service. For products, 12 complaints were related to iPhones and accessories, seven were for MacBooks, while Apple Watches and “ebooks/online subscription/apps” had 6 complaints each.

Also in the top five is fellow multinational Samsung Electronics, as well as tech retailers Harvey Norman and Kogan. Each company logged 21, 21 and 19 complaints respectively.

Fair Trading's announcement of the month's miscreants took aim at online businesses, with Revolv Athletic, Grays Online and eBay also making the list.

NSW Fair Trading Commissioner Rose Webb said, “In a recently commissioned market research survey, one in five people did not know they have the same rights when buying online as they do when shopping in store.”

“Almost 40 percent of people surveyed had experienced problems when shopping online, which is why it is vital that shoppers review the trader’s website prior to placing an order.”
