SAN MATEO – A trio of thieves stole 40 products from a San Mateo Apple Store in mere minutes Thursday night, authorities said.

The high-speed robbery is the latest to occur at one of the tech giant’s retail outlets in the Bay Area. Last week, thieves made off with $70,000 in products from a store in Burlingame.

San Mateo police said the robbery at the Hillsdale Shopping Center Apple Store was reported at 9:01 p.m. Officers arrived within two minutes, but the three suspects had already left.

Witnesses told police the suspects escaped in a white four-door car. Brisbane police spotted the vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 101 toward San Francisco and gave chase.

The California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit when it reached Highway 80, but officers lost sight of the car on the Bay Bridge as it passed the incline, San Mateo police said.

Additional information about the robbery, including a detailed description of the three suspects, was not immediately available early Friday morning.

Anyone with information about the robbery can contact San Mateo police at 650-522-7700.
