These days with cameras readily at our disposal in our smartphones, it makes it so easy for anyone to take a photo or video anytime, anywhere. This has unfortunately resulted in some accidents, where people try to take photos only to lose their phones instead. This was almost the case with one main at the PortAventura World theme park in Catalonia, Spain.

In a viral video that’s been making its rounds, it seems that one guy lost control of his iPhone X during a roller coaster ride going at 80mph. If we were in his shoes, we would be resigned to the likelihood that that was it for the iPhone, but it seems that it was his lucky day. This is because sitting at the back was a New Zealander on holiday by the name of Samuel Kempf, who spotted the falling iPhone and reached out to grab it.

He later returned the iPhone to its owner when the ride was over. Speaking to local news publication 1 NEWS, Kempf was quoted as saying, “Long story short I caught it. This roller coaster is moving at over 130kms and was once Europe’s tallest and fastest coaster. He was super surprised and happy at the same time. He gave me a big hug and said he was going to buy the on-ride video for me.”

It is a pretty impressive catch, although the next time you do ride a roller coaster, either consider not whipping out your smartphone or maybe consider gripping it a lot tighter.
