After releasing watchOS 6 to the public in mid-September, Apple is moving ahead with the latest beta of the smartwatch’s next update.
Apple on Monday officially seeded the first beta of watchOS 6.1 to developers. Developers will need to make sure that the proper configuration profile is installed on their registered devices. After that, the latest beta can be downloaded and installed from the Apple Watch app on the iPhone.
To install the new software, the Apple Watch must have at least 50 percent battery life, be connected to its charger, and also be connected and within range of the iPhone.
As far as what’s new in this beta, it remains unknown at the time of publication. watchOS 6 itself brought with it a variety of new features, including a dedicated App Store for Apple Watch, Cycle Tracking, new watch faces, and much more.
It’s possible that watchOS 6.1 is just a minor update and will only be adding software improvements and bug squashing. However, if there are any additional new features discovered in this latest beta, we will update this post accordingly.
