A new entry for what claims to be the Radeon RX 5500 has appeared on GFXBench. The new listing seemingly confirms that AMD will bring two RX 5xxx series to market, with the RX 5300 series confirmed to be making an appearance too. The RX 5500 series, expected to be based on AMD's Navi 12 GPU, will likely challenge the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 16 series for midrange market dominance.

All signs currently point to AMD releasing an RX 5500 series alongside the RX 5700 series it introduced earlier this year. We also expect the company to formally announce the RX 5300, which HP is incorporating in new pre-built desktops. A few months ago, @KOMACHI_ENSAKA posted a Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) listing filed by Sapphire that contained product names, including the RX 5500 series. Now, the baby in the series has appeared on GFXBench, the link for which once again comes courtesy of @KOMACHI_ENSAKA.

The listing reveals little about the upcoming card, but the current thinking is that the RX 5500 series will be based on AMD's Navi 12 GPU, with Navi 14 being used for the RX 5300 series. We currently expect AMD to release at least three RX 5500 branded cards, although perhaps not simultaneously. As Scott Herkelman alluded to in an interview with Hot Hardware in July, AMD will release an RX 5500 and an RX 5500 XT, along with an RX 5550 at some point too. The Sapphire EEC listing also refers to an RX 5550 XT, although this could be a placeholder.

Oddly, the RX 5500 performs exceptionally well in onscreen portion of Manhattan 3.1, with it comfortably outscoring even the RX 5700 and RTX 2070 SUPER. However, we suspect that this is an erroneous entry, or that it was tested with a monitor capable of exceeding 60 FPS. Instead, we expect the RX 5500 series to challenge NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 16 series.
