Microsoft Pushes Windows 10 Version 1909 Toward Completion

Windows Insiders in the Slow ring are receiving a minor update to the latest Windows 10 version 1909 build, indicating that Microsoft is nearly done developing this release.

“Today we are releasing [1909] Build 18362.10022 to Windows Insiders in the Slow ring,” Microsoft announced. “This build includes the improvements and fixes from KB4515384 as well as general improvements to the overall quality of [1909].”

As that link notes, KB4515384 was released earlier as part of this month’s Patch Tuesday updates and it includes both quality updates (bug fixes) and security fixes, one of which is pretty serious. So it’s understandable that Microsoft would want to get those changes into the final version of Windows 10 version 1909.

In addition, Windows Insider Program for Business customers can now ask Microsoft Support to get Windows 10 Version 1909 builds in the Release Preview and Slow rings.

Will 1909 be released by next Monday, or will it be released sometime in October, the 10th month of 2019, or later?

Are the 03 and 09 in production builds merely aspirational?

Backing themselves into a strict release corner was part of their bug problem.

I did hop on the slow ring to grab this. No problems so far.

In reply to hrlngrv:

The 09, in this case, refers to when the code was finalized, not when it will be released.

Pedantically, one might argue that 1909 is already finalized, and that the addition of a bug fix and the subsequent testing that results doesn't change that. So they have "hit" the target date in this case.

I am on the release preview and just received the build this morning. First there was a regular update to 2019/03, then I saw an optional update in Windows Update to 2019/09.Updated in less than 10 minutes.

Just because your reservation is at 6:30, doesn't mean dinner is ready.

Frankly I want my meal when it's cooked and ready. I like my OS the same way.

I'm just a private Release Preview Insider and I got offered 1909 two days ago optionally on seeking it with Windows Update. It installed fine.
