How To Resize App Icons On iPadOS Home Screen On iPad

With iPadOS, Apple has taken the decision to let its internal Product Owners run wild. One output of that decision is a brand new feature that seems small at first glance but which will be a welcome addition for iPad owners; the ability to change the size of the icons on the Home screen.

Now, before you get too excited, Apple hasn’t gone entirely over-the-top here by giving users the ability to set the icon sizes to whatever they wish.

So, unfortunately, you can’t just have one huge icon on the screen. What it has done, however, is offer an option within Settings that allows the iPad owner to choose between two very distinct settings depending on their own personal preferences.

Let’s dive right in and take a look at exactly what it’s all about and how to interact with that feature.

Step 1: Launch the native Settings app on your iPad, running iPadOS, of course.

Step 2: On the left-hand menu of the Settings app, scroll down until you find Display & Brightness. Select it.

Step 3: Now, in the detail view on the right-hand side, you will see a selection of options and information. Fix your gaze on the section titled “APP ICON SIZE”

Step 4: Within this section, you will see two visuals designed to identify the two different options, with those being “More” and “Bigger.” Basically, the choice is, “do you want more icons on your screen” or “do you want your icons to be bigger,” with the latter, of course, meaning you will get less on the screen. If you want to get more icons, then select the More option, which will give you a 6×5 grid. If you want your icons more visually prominent and therefore bigger, then select Bigger. This will give you a grid of 4×5.

Step 5: Now, once you exit out of the Settings app, you should see the change take effect and represent whatever decision you took.
