Hipster Whale’s 2015 game Crossy Road modified the Frogger concept for a modern audience. In doing so, it raked in massive amounts of money for an indie game: around $10 million in its first 90 days.

Now the company is back with a new game, Crossy Road Castle, that’s set to debut on Apple Arcade. Check out the trailer below.

Crossy Road Castle will star the “familiar cast” of animal characters, but swap out roads and cars for a randomly-generated endless castle tower to be climbed. The game will support up to 4 players locally. It will offer Apple Arcade’s PS4 and Xbox controller support, as well as multi-device functionality.

In an interview with Gamespot, the developers talked about what Apple Arcade offers devs. Specifically, co-founder Matt Hall said that it makes it easier for games that don’t fit obvious categories. Hall said that:

“[F]ewer people want to pay for games, because you have to convince someone that this game is for them through icon, blurb, screenshots. Apple Arcade is going to be really interesting for that. Because it’s going to be easier for games that can’t market themselves in a single line. You know. Like, using the example of Sayonara Wild Hearts. Like okay, so it’s a video game with an all-female motorcycle club and you… dance to music? Is that the marketing pitch? It’s very difficult to explain, but you can just get it, and the moment you see it and play it you go: ‘Oh okay, yeah’ and so that’s what Apple Arcade opens up.”

Apple Arcade: Crossy Road Castle and much more

Apple Arcade costs $4.99 per month for a game selection of more than 100 titles. Check out Cult of Mac‘s first impressions review of it here. It’s not clear when Crossy Road Castle will debut. However, I’m certainly interested to give it a spin when it finally does.
