The smaller 13.3-inch Inspiron 13 7390 2-in-1 Black Edition has also gotten the same Comet Lake-U treatment albeit with the Core i5-10210U processor instead. The CPU update directly addresses one of the main drawbacks of the Inspiron 2-in-1 series which was its lack of Thunderbolt 3 compatibility.

One of our key complaints about last year's 15.6-inch Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 was its lack of Thunderbolt 3. For a system boasting flexibility, the absence of Thunderbolt limited its docking capabilities especially if you wanted to daisy chain multiple external monitors or high-speed ports. Such a feature was reserved for Dell's pricier models including the Latitude 7200 2-in-1 or the flagship XPS series.

To address this, Dell has updated the aforementioned Inspiron to include the new Intel 10th gen Comet Lake-U Core i7-10510U which integrates Thunderbolt 3. Previous configurations topped out at the Whiskey Lake-U Core i7-8565U CPU with USB Type-C Gen. 1 instead. Graphics have also gotten bumped up from the GeForce MX150 to the newer MX250

Aside from the internal upgrades, the chassis remains identical to last year's 15.6-inch model. There are curiously no new Core i5 options yet and users interested in the even faster hexa-core Core i7-10710U would have to look at the more expensive XPS 13 7390 clamshell.

The new 2019 Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 Black Edition with Comet Lake-U starts at $1470 USD. (buy Inspiron 7390 2-in1, i7-8565U now at Amazon)
