Microsoft buys other companies on a somewhat regular basis, and today it announced yet another business is joining its portfolio of acquisitions. The Redmond giant has bought Mover, a company specializing in cloud migration services, helping customers transition from one cloud service to another.
The acquisition will expand Microsoft's current offerings for file migration to the cloud, which include FastTrack and the SharePoint migration tool. Mover currently offers the ability to move from services including Box, Dropbox, and Google Drive into OneDrive and SharePoint, and the team will also bring more expertise and technology to help with the development of better migration tools going forward.
Microsoft didn't go into specific details of how the Mover acquisition will improve these solutions, but it says to expect more news at this year's Ignite, which is taking place in from November 4 through 8. More information regarding Mover integration and new capabilities to help plan migrations to Microsoft 365 will be announced at that time.
