Alleged NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super Turing Specs Revealed

We've been hearing quite a bit about NVIDIA's upcoming "Super" refresh of its GeForce GTX Turing family of graphics cards. Over the past few weeks, we seen leaks concerning Zotac's upcoming GeForce GTX 1660 Super-based gaming card, and ASUS is already reportedly ready to unleash a number of new SKUs based on the GPU.

Today, we're getting some clarification on the final specs for the GeForce GTX 1660 Super thanks to well-connected hardware sleuth momomo_us. momomo_us stumbled across a product listing on a Chinese-based e-commerce site that lists a Maxsun GeForce GTX 1660 Super graphics card. Judging by the images, this is a custom design complete with that looks like a relatively beefy heatsink and dual cooling fans.

But what's important are the GPU clock speeds and memory configuration, which we can now confirm below (in bold):

  • GeForce GTX 1660 Ti: 1,536 CUDA cores, 1,500MHz base / 1,770MHz boost, 6GB GDDR6 (12Gbps) on 192-bit bus
  • GeForce GTX 1660 Super: 1,408 CUDA cores, 1530MHz base / 1785MHz boost, 6GB GDDR6 (14Gbps) on 192-bit bus
  • GeForce GTX 1660: 1,408 CUDA cores, 1,530MHz base / 1,785MHz boost, 6GB GDDR5 (8Gbps) on 192-bit bus
  • GeForce GTX 1650: 896 CUDA cores, 1,485MHz base / 1,665MHz boost, 4GB GDDR5 (8Gbps) on 128-bit bus

As you can see, the GPU clock speeds are identical to that of the existing GeForce GTX 1660, but it ditches GDDR5 for faster GDDR6 memory (maximum bandwidth of 336 GB/sec). In fact, the GeForce GTX 1660 Super actually uses faster GDDR6 than the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti (14Gbps versus 12Gbps).

There is already very little daylight between the GeForce GTX 1660 ($219) and the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti ($279), so it's possible that NVIDIA might try to squeeze in the new "Super" variant at $249. If NVIDIA is feeling a bit aggressive, it could simply let the GeForce GTX 1660 replace the standard GeForce GTX 1660. That would be an aggressive move with AMD's Radeon RX 5500 Navi cards incoming, but we honestly don't know what NVIDIA has in store for pricing/positioning.

At this point, we don't have a timetable for when NVIDIA and its partners will release GeForce GTX 1660 Super graphics cards.
