‘Servant’ for Apple TV+ teased by M. Night Shyamalan [Updated: another teaser]

While a lot of focus has been paid to the TV shows coming to Apple TV+ on launch day (November 1), there is quite a bit still coming down the pipe after that initial launch.

Update: M. Night Shyamalan has uploaded yet another teaser for Servant, this time showcasing the doll Jericho that gets treated like a real child:

The original article continues below.

That includes a new psychological thriller from M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Split) called Servant. This new series was actually one of the first rumors swirling around Apple’s video streaming service way back in February of 2018. And now it’s finally coming to the service.

While Apple has not shared a full trailer for Servant yet, Shyamalan took to Twitter today to tease the upcoming series ahead of its debut on November 28. Now that the teaser is out there in the wild it’s possible a more comprehensive trailer sees the light of day soon, and, if that happens, we’ll update this post accordingly.

Here’s Shyamalan’s tweet, which includes the 15-second teaser:

The teaser is interesting! It shows quite a bit of moody atmosphere, and we get to see two of the lead actors squaring off in a hallway. The voice over has two distinct voices saying, “Where did you find her” and “She is a godsend”, as the young Leanne walks away from Sean.

So, what’s going on here? Well, the official description of Servant reads as follows:

From M. Night Shyamalan, Servant follows a Philadelphia couple in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.

Now, this is a Shyamalan project so while all of that sounds perfectly creepy and spooky, there is probably something else going on in the background, too. Whether or not this series will have an outright twist or not remains to be seen, but it seems pretty likely.

Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, Can’t Hardly Wait) will play Dorothy, one half of the mourning couple. Toby Kebbell (Kong: Skull Island, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is Sean, the other half. The series will also star Rupert Grint (Harry Potter series) as Julian, and relative newcomer Nell Tiger Free (Mr. Stink) as Leanne.

What do you think of the teaser? Think you’ll watch Servant once it arrives on Apple TV+ on November 28?
