New Mac Pro Units Being Produced In Texas Will Only Ship “Across The Americas”

We still don’t know when it will go on sale, but Apple has started to mass produce the new 2019 Mac Pro. We know that it will arrive at some point next month, but we don’t yet know exactly which day that will be.

Production of the new Mac Pro is taking place in Austin, Texas but it appears that those machines will only be shipped “across the Americas” according to an Apple press release. That means that anyone buying a Mac Pro elsewhere is likely to receive one built in a different facility, likely one not in the United States at all.

Apple hasn’t commented on where other orders will ship from but China would be a pretty safe bet given the fact everything else is built there. But Apple has been making tons of noise about building the Mac Pro in the United States, with parts coming from suppliers across the country. In fact, as many as 19 states have a hand in making the Mac Pro including Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, and Washington.

Apparently ignoring the fact that some Mac Pro machines will presumably be built internationally, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that building them in the United States was a “point of pride.”

Building the Mac Pro, Apple’s most powerful device ever, in Austin is both a point of pride and a testament to the enduring power of American ingenuity.

Alongside the vague December release window, we do know that the Mac Pro will start at $5,999 although how add-on and configuration items will alter that price remains to be seen.
