Apple Removes All Customer Reviews From its Online Stores

There has been no explanation as to why yet.

Reviews are a reliable way to find out if a product you're considering buying is worth the money or the right thing to buy for your needs. However, Apple has for some unknown reason decided to remove all customer reviews from the Apple Store.

As AppleInsider reports, the removal of the "Ratings & Reviews" section of Apple's online store occurred on Nov. 17 without any warning or acknowledgment by Apple. The change means anyone browsing Apple's website can no longer see what others have to say about a product. Such information will need to be found elsewhere.

If this was just happening on one of Apple's websites then it could be seen as a mistake, but the review and ratings are being removed wholesale from different territories including the US, UK, and Australia. Clearly Apple has decided its online store is better without customer feedback for some reason. Alternatively, the customer feedback system is being overhauled and Apple decided not to wait to remove the existing system.

Until Apple chooses to comment publicly, we simply don't know why the reviews have disappeared. Apple wasn't shy about leaving extremely negative reviews and ratings up on its store in the past, which makes this decision all the more unusual. We're also heading into the busiest shopping period of the year, and Apple online store customers have lost an important source of information when deciding what to buy.

If you're planning to purchase anything from Apple in the run up to Christmas, be sure to look elsewhere for customer reviews before hitting the buy button. PCMag also has an extensive range of Apple product reviews for you to peruse before making up your mind.
