Apple takes second spot in list of UK's best employers
People sure want to work for Apple. But not as much as they want to kill rats, apparently.

Those dirty rats! A pest control company knocked Apple out of first place on a list of best U.K. employers.

Global pest control company Rentokil Initial rose to No. 1 on the list, compiled using employee reviews on jobseeker site Indeed. Apple fell to second place — but it’s still the only non-U.K. company to make the top five.

Apple might be synonymous with Cupertino, California, but the company employs around 6,500 people in the United Kingdom. In London alone, it employs 2,500 people. Overall, Apple employs around 132,000 full-timers worldwide.

As in most countries, many U.K. Apple employees work in retail at Apple Stores. The first U.K. Apple Store opened in London’s Regent Street on November 20, 2004. Today, dozens of Apple Stores dot the country.

In 2016, Apple secured a new location for its London HQ in the iconic Battersea Power Station. The 500,000-square-foot site occupies six floors, and will eventually house 3,000 employees. However, employees have yet to start moving in.

Apple is a good employer in the U.K. and beyond

Apple frequently ranks very highly in lists of good employers. Not only is working for Apple, well, working for Apple, but the company also offers generous staff perks. These include discounts on Apple products.

You can see the full list of top U.K. employers below. Aside from Apple, investment bank J.P. Morgan Chase (No. 10) was the only other American company to crack the list.
