Tidal today one-upped Apple Music with an even better student deal. Its 50% discount now extends to high-schoolers — not just college attendees.
Qualifying members will pay just $4.99 a month for Premium access, or $9.99 a month for the Hi-Fi plan. The discount is available to new and existing subscribers who verify their student status.
Tidal is one of Apple Music’s more interesting rivals. That’s thanks in part to its owner, Jay-Z, but also because of its focus on lossless music and its supposed higher royalty rates for songwriters and artists.
Tidal is now even more appealing to high school students, who will pay 50% less than everyone else when they verify their student status.
Tidal offers 50% discount for students
You must be 16 or older to take advantage of the reduced rates. You also need to verify that you are a current student. Tidal is the first service to welcome high school students.
If you’re already subscribed to Tidal, you can switch to the reduced rate by verifying your student status today. If you’re new, you can enjoy Tidal’s 30-day free trial when signing up for a student plan.
Tidal’s music streaming catalog boasts more than 60 million tracks and more than 250,000 music videos, the company says. It also serves podcasts, and is now available in over 54 countries worldwide.
There are official Tidal apps for all major platforms, including iOS, macOS, and Apple TV.
