The new features of the Apple MacBook Pro 16 are great, but it is expensive.

After our in-depth review of the new MacBook Pro 16, our impression of Apple's new multimedia flagship device is mostly positive. The manufacturer from Cupertino once again managed to design a very good multimedia laptop and remove some of the previous problems. This obviously includes the new (old) keyboard, so the negative reports about the Butterfly keys should be a thing of the past. The slightly thicker chassis also allows a more powerful cooling solution, which should improve the performance utilization. We can confirm this statement after our comprehensive benchmark suite. The GPU is also faster than before, even though there are much more powerful GPUs in the Windows world.

 Some things are still the same, like the excellent chassis quality or the great touchpad. The 16-inch screen is good and the quality is comparable to the previous 15.4-inch panels. The additional chassis space also enables a new speaker system, which is clearly the reference in the mobile segment. The battery should easily last a full business day and you can attach pretty much any accessory via (optional) adapters thanks to Thunderbolt 3.

However, many of the previous issues or points of criticism were carried over as well. It starts with the high price, especially for RAM or storage upgrades. The maintenance options are miserable and you have to be careful not to damage the bottom cover when you remove it. We cannot understand why Apple does not include Wi-Fi 6, and there are no innovations in regard to the display (like 120 Hz or variable refresh rate).

All in all, Apple improved the MacBook Pro with the new 16-inch model and it is still one of the best multimedia laptops you can buy, but all of this comes at a steep price.
