Apple is finally making a comeback to the biggest tech trade show in the world after being a no show at the event for nearly three decades.
CES posted its speaker agenda this morning which revealed Apple will have an official presence at the event. The company won’t have a product booth and isn’t expected to announce anything major at the event this coming January. Instead, Apple will be there to discuss one of its favorite topics: privacy.
The last time Apple made an appearance at CES was 1992 when former CEO John Sculley introduced the Newton. Even though the company hasn’t had an official presence at the event since, its influence on CES has still held strong. Dozens of Apple employees attend CES every year. Apple posted a giant billboard about privacy in Las Vegas for CES 2019.

Jane Horvath, Apple’s senior director of Global Privacy, will appear at a roundtable panel discussion on Tuesday, January 7 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. She’ll be joined by executives from Facebook, Proctor and Gamble and the commissioner of the FTC.
Horvath’s panel will discuss how companies build privacy at scale and who to regulate it along with what customers want. Even though the company won’t reveal any new products during the conference we’re certain to see tons of new HomeKit-supported devices and plenty of amazing and not-so-amazing iPhone accessories.
