Apple introduces new custom engraving options for AirPods, AirPods Pro
Apple has launched a new free engraving service for its AirPods and AirPods Pro wireless earphones. Customers can choose from a limited range of emojis or use the alphabet to create their own name, for example.
Apple has launched a new and free engraving service for its hugely popular AirPods and AirPods Pro earphones. Unfortunately, the service is not retroactive undoubtedly annoying anyone who received a set over the Christmas holiday period. New customers, however, will be able to give their new earphones a personal touch helping to differentiate them somewhat from the masses.
Currently, customers can choose from just over 30 emojis, although none are available in color. Emojis on offer include popular choices that range from a smiley face right through to even the smiling poop emoji. Customers can also choose from the alphabet which offers greater scope to come up with something completely unique, but anything obviously profane is blocked as you would expect from a family-friendly company.
At the time of writing, custom engraving for AirPods and AirPods Pro is only available in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia with Japan the only foreign language country to get the option. The free engraving option is automatically offered to users on proceeding to click the ‘Buy’ button.

I have been writing about consumer technology over the past ten years, previously with the former MacNN and Electronista, and now Notebookcheck since 2017. My first computer was an Apple ][c and this sparked a passion for Apple, but also technology in general. In the past decade, I’ve become increasingly platform agnostic and love to get my hands on and explore as much technology as I can get my hand on. Whether it is Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, Linux, Nintendo, Xbox, or PlayStation, each has plenty to offer and has given me great joy exploring them all. I was drawn to writing about tech because I love learning about the latest devices and also sharing whatever insights my experience can bring to the site and its readership.
