It Looks Like Action Platformer ‘Swords and Sandals Spartacus’ is Heading to iOS and Android Soon

If you’ve been playing vidya games for the past 15 years or so, you may have come across the cult hit Swords and Sandals series of turn-based combat games from developer Oliver Joyce aka Whiskeybarrel Studios. The series has featured numerous releases over the years famed for their strategy and silliness, and they’ve even occasionally branched out into different types of genres. One such branch out was into the action platforming genre with Swords and Sandals Spartacus, which had you playing as the titular hero from the Roman times as he escapes the shackles of the Gladiator arena and goes on a quest to end slavery in the Roman Republic. Swords and Sandals Spartacus launched on Steam this past December and this is what it looks like.

Those who know me know that I’m a sucker for action platformers and great pixel art, so the trailer for Swords and Sandals Spartacus has me basically frothing at the mouth. However, my gaming loyalty lies in the world of mobile, not on desktop, and so what is one to do in this situation? Well thankfully one of our eagle-eyed forum members has noticed that on publisher eGames official website for Swords and Sandals Spartacus, there are the glorious words “Coming Soon to Google Play & The App Store." Be still my beating heart! While no release date has been specified, hopefully it won’t be too long before I can get my Swords and Sandals Spartacus fix on mobile. And it’s an especially fitting bit of news in light of the passing of Spartacus himself, the legendary Kirk Douglas, earlier this week.
