Apple is expected to release a new MacBook Pro 13 soon, and one that may feature the company's scissor mechanism keyboard. However, there is evidence that it could feature a custom Ice Lake processor too, which may offer up to 20% improved performance over last year's model.

The next Macbook Pro 13 looks increasingly close to launching, with possible sightings of the device having appeared on 3DMark. While there have been hints that Apple is planning on bringing AMD APUs to its devices, the device in question is most certainly an Intel-powered machine. However, its processor may distinguish it from any other laptop currently on the market.

Spotted by @_rogame, the possible MacBook Pro 13 refresh features an Intel Core i7-1068NG7 processor, along with 32 GB of RAM and a 2 TB SSD. @TUM_APISAK, another prominent leaker on Twitter, also recently reported having found a Core i7-1068NG7 powered laptop on 3DMark, although they seemed unsure about it being a MacBook Pro for some reason.

Regardless, no one seems quite sure how the Core i7-1068NG7 would differ from the regular Core i7-1068G7, Intel's most powerful Ice Lake processor. Some have suggested that the 10 nm chip offer better cooling than the existing Core i7-1068G7, but that seems purely speculative at this stage.

Nonetheless, @_rogame also tweeted a screenshot comparing the possible MacBook Pro 13 2020 to last year's unit. Specifically, the Core i5-8279U SKU. According to the screenshot, the Core i7-1068NG7 offers anywhere between a 20% to 30% performance increase of the Core i5-8279U. It is worth keeping in mind that Apple offers the Core i7-8559U for the current MacBook Pro 13, though.

Would an Ice Lake-powered MacBook Pro 13 tempt you into upgrading from your existing laptop? Or would something like an improved keyboard mechanism be more likely to sway you?
