Apple seeded the second beta build of iOS 13.4 and iPadOS 13.4 to developers this morning bringing a bunch of bug fixes and some small new features to the iPhone and iPad.

Included among the changes are some more changes to the controversial toolbar in the Mail app. Apple also added some under-the-hood improvements and some changes to how location authorization works in apps.

Members of Apple’s developer program can download iOS 13.4 beta 2 and iPadOS 13.4 beta 2 as an over-the-air update through the Settings app. Apple also published second betas for macOS Catalina 10.15.4, tvOS 13.4 and watchOS 6.2.

What’s in iOS 13.4?

Today’s beta update adds some new data-saving settings to the TV app on iPhone and iPad. Users can now control the size of downloads as well as lower the amount of data used while streaming content.

iOS 13.4 beta 2 builds on some of the features that were introduced in the previous beta two weeks ago. One of the biggest features was Universal Purchases which will allow developers to offer users the ability to make an in-app purchase on an iPhone app and use it on a Mac app, or vice-versa.

Another noticeable change is the new toolbar in the Mail app that makes it harder to unintentionally delete emails. In the last beta, Apple moved the reply icon to the opposite side of the delete icon. Today’s tweak replaces the Flag icon and adds a compose option.

iCloud Folder sharing was added in the last beta along with nine new Memoji and Animoji stickers. Apple also buried references to a CarKey API in iOS 13.4 which might hint the feature could launch during the first half of 2020.

Release notes for iOS 13.4 beta 2 mentions a few updates for the QuickType keyboard. Support has been added for predictive input for Arabic, live conversion for Japanese and Chinese and supports for a Swiss-German keyboard layout on the 12.9-inch iPads.
