'Works with iPhone' logo program

Apple has posted a page listing the company's own iPhone Accessories. On the same page, down below the page break on the right, is a blurb and logo entreating users to seek add-ons that meet the mothership's criteria:

Look for the "Works with iPhone" logo to find electronic accessories designed to connect specifically to iPhone and certified by the developer to meet Apple performance standards.

This is reminiscent of Apple's Made for iPod program, whereby third-party iPod hardware developers pay the mothership for limited use of the iPod trademark and good name.

To date, only a few suppliers have created iPhone accessories as Apple has strictly limited access to the physical product and its design specs.

Editor's note: I expect a few of Apple's close partners in the iPod space will have product ready for the launch later today. The cacophonous rabble that makes up the bulk of the iPod ecosystem likely will be kept at arm's length for the time being...
