Here in the U.S., the worm is turning on carriers who advertise "unlimited" data plans but have hidden bandwidth limits. In Europe, however, the practice is unchallenged, and according to T-Mobile's rate plan for its Nov. 9 iPhone launch, users of the Apple phone will get as little at 200MB monthly transfer on the basic option. Even those opting for the $140-a-month "Complete XL" plan get only 5GB of data: about the same as the storage a Gmail account gives you for free.

British carrier O2 also reserves the right to change your plan or fine you if you go over 200MB, and Orange France has, according to Engadget, always has "the priciest unlimited data rates" and long-established screw-the-customer policies on arbitrarily-defined limits.
