T-Mobile’s German iPhone plans soar to new heights

T-Mobile has posted its rate plans for the iPhone when it launches in Germany …

The launch of the iPhone in Germany is only a couple of weeks away, so it's about time those rate plans finally came out, hm? T-Mobile has posted the three rate plans it is going to launch with the iPhone, which match up almost exactly to the rumored plans that went around earlier this month. (Nice job on that one, MACNOTES.DE.)

As predicted, the default plans come in three sizes: 100, 200, and 1,000 minutes. They all include visual voicemail (hey T-Mobile USA, how about bringin' us some of that?), and a W-LAN/EDGE connection. They also come with 40, 150, and 300 SMSes respectively, and will go for €49, €69, and €89.

If those prices seem expensive to you for what you get, they are. €49 is roughly US$70 right now, and with only 100 minutes and 40 SMS, there had better be some darn good data rates coming down the pipe. It should be noted, however, that SMS works a little bit differently over there than in the US—incoming SMSes are typically free, as are incoming mobile calls. Still, we've heard from some of our European readers that those rates are a bit on the painful side. We'll see come November 9 whether would-be German iPhone owners will still take the bait.
