Apple preparing new notebooks

DigiTimes reports that Apple has increased its procurement of high-interconnect density (HDI) PCBs by 20%. PCB makers in Taiwan are expected to see big boost in corresponding sales and profit, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.
Compeq Manufacturing, Gold Circuit Electronics, Nanya Printed Circuit Board and Tripod Technology are the four PCB makers identified as beneficiaries. As average selling prices and gross margin from HDI board have a high premium over conventional PCBs, suppliers' sales and profit should enjoy a powerful growth momentum accordingly, the paper said.
This is the latest scatological reference indicating that Apple will indeed launch new portables, both MacBook and MacBook Pros, this quarter. Previously, IGM reported that Apple had placed notebook LCD panels in May.
The MacBook will get an Aluminum enclosure outside and Intel's next-gen Montevina processor (1066MHz FSB, up to 2.8GHz) inside.
