Colbert: iPhone 'kill switch' kills you

Earlier this week, Steve Jobs confirmed that the iPhone does indeed "phone home" from time-to-time and, after talking with Apple's black ops group, could delete "malicious software." The fan boys in tin foil hats call this functionality a "kill switch."

This news taken together with another report this week that
Jobs has been named the tech-
nology industry's No 1 terrible tyrant puts a report from Steven Colbert that unmasks the 3G iPhone's true nature and purpose into proper perspective.

Although Colbert has accurately deduced that the iPhone is a weapon of assassination, he fails to grasp the true purpose of that functionality--to recruit or, if necessary, kill researchers working to reverse engineer the device for competitors.

According to anonymous sources, the iPhone senses when a researcher is close to understanding its secrets and then phones home to inform Apple's black ops group. The technologist is contacted and, if the researcher accepts Steve's offer to work for Cupertino, all's well.

However, if the researcher lacks the vision to accept the opportunity to serve a higher purpose working for the greatest company in the world, why would anyone be surprised if his wife became a widow...
