LogMeIn spreads to iPad

By

The latest version of LogMeIn Ignition includes iPad support.

A free update for the LogMeIn Ignition remote access app for iPhone OS includes full iPad support.

The $A36.99/$US29.99 app provides remote access to Windows and Mac OS X systems via 3G or Wi-Fi. It was designed with the aim of allowing non-technical users to take advantage of remote access.

While Version 1.1.138 runs on the iPhone or iPod touch, it automatically adjusts to the larger screen of the iPad. The performance of 3G and Wi-Fi connections has also been improved.

Either LogMeIn Free or LogMeIn Pro2  is required on the remote computer. LogMeIn Pro 2 starts at $US69.95 per year, and is only available for Windows. It adds file transfer, remote printing, audio, and other features.

"With this latest version of LogMeIn Ignition, customers can use their iAnything - Pad, Phone, Pod - to instantly and securely access their digital lives, from wherever they are in the world," said Andrew Burton, LogMeIn's vice president, access and management.

"Whether it's accessing an important file back in the office while you are camping in the woods, or showing off the latest picture of the kids you have at home, the iPad with LogMeIn Ignition is the perfect combination for keeping you productive at work and at play," he added.
