After being leaked ahead of the CeBIT trade show in March, Asus has put the EeePC 1015P netbook and its offshoot, the 1015PE, out on the market.

The major and only difference between these two machines is design. The 1015P is available in three standard shades (black, white and blue), while there are many more options for the 1015PE available in either matte in one of four shades (black, white, blue and red) or with a glossy finish in one of four shades (black, white, red and pink).

Powered by Intel Atom Pineview-M N450 processors, both the EeePC 1015P and 1015PE feature 10.1-inch backlit-LED WSVGA displays (1,024 x 600 resolution). Not all of the specs are that stellar (especially the paltry 0.3-megapixel camera), but there are some significant battery options, including the possibility up to 13.5 hours of work time after a full charge.

For review, here's a list of what to expect from both the 1015P and 1015PE netbooks:

  • Windows 7 Starter OS
  • Up to 2GB of DDR2 memory
  • Choice of 160GB/250GB/320GB hard drive
  • 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR
  • Chiclet keyboard
  • MMC/SD/SDHC card reader
  • Connectivity: Three USB 2.0 ports, LAN RJ-45, VGA

Unfortunately, two major details have not been revealed yet: the pricing and release date. It seems Asus is making us wait just a little bit longer.
