Zenph® Sound Innovations Launches Piano Play-Along Applications for iPad

Apps Showcase Zenph’s Award Winning Home Concert Xtreme™ Software

RESEARCH TRIANGLE, N.C.--()--Zenph Sound Innovations, an entertainment technology company that builds advanced software to understand—and precisely recreate—how musicians play, today announced the availability of several new iPad® applications that give piano players an introductory taste of its award-winning Home Concert Xtreme software.

Home Concert Xtreme for iPad ($39.99) is a piano performance and learning tool, which provides natural accompaniment that actually follows the soloist—slowing down, speeding up and getting softer and louder in a musically coordinated fashion.

The software lets musicians load a standard MIDI file and play along on a MIDI keyboard or acoustic piano, with onscreen sheet music that updates itself as they play. It is compatible with thousands of commercial and free MIDI files as well as with properly formatted, musician-made MIDI files. Key features include:

  • Natural Score-Following: Sheet music pages turn automatically, as the software follows the player in the musical score.
  • Virtual Accompaniment and Performance Tool: First-of-its-kind Performance mode follows the player’s lead by slowing down, speeding up, or jumping the accompaniment to different places by identifying where the musician is in the piece.
  • Learning Tool: When used in Learn mode, the software waits for the performer to play the correct note by pausing the accompaniment and its progress through the musical score.

The new Piano Play-Along apps ($0.99) are single-song versions of Home Concert Xtreme. Choose from holiday songs including “Jingle Bells,” “Carol of the Bells,” and “Jolly Old St. Nicholas,” as well as upcoming contemporary tracks originally performed by Justin Bieber, Coldplay, and Taylor Swift. For those seeking more holiday music, the three apps in the Christmas Piano Play-Along series ($9.99) each contain 22 songs from American Popular Piano by Novus Via Music Group.

“The new standalone apps create an unparalleled learning experience for iPad users—essentially providing a backup band or orchestra to practice and perform with. The apps can even be played solely on your iPad’s onscreen keyboard, letting you practice even when you are away from your piano,” stated George Litterst, CTO of Zenph.

In 2010, the Music Teachers National Association honored Home Concert Xtreme with its Frances Clark Award for Keyboard Pedagogy. Yamaha® Corporation of America currently bundles the software with all of its Disklavier® and Disklavier PRO piano models alongside Zenph’s RePerform™ and Internet MIDI™ products.
