Nuance Powers Voice Dictation for Snapguide App for iPhone and iPad

New App Features Power of Dragon to Let People Speak Captions as They Create How-To Guides on their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad

BURLINGTON, Mass.--()--Nuance Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: NUAN) today announced that the Snapguide app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad features voice dictation powered by Nuance. Snapguide is the latest app to integrate Nuance voice technology via the Dragon Mobile SDK and the NDEV Mobile Developer program, allowing people to dictate the text for visual captions as they create simple, step-by-step how-to guides – or discover new guides – for virtually anything.

Snapguide gives people the power to find, document and share how-to guides right on their device, with visually-rich content that can feature photos, videos and simple step-by-step instructions that can be shared via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and email. By integrating Dragon voice recognition, Snapguide lets people simply speak the text accompanying the visual elements of their own how-to guides. Snapguide is currently available for free on the Apple App Store.

“The concept of Snapguide is deep rooted in the ability to create, show and share simple step-by-step instructions for anything – be it cooking recipes or crafts. By integrating the Dragon voice recognition technology, people can create guides and share them in the simplest way possible – just by speaking,” said Daniel Raffel, founder, Snapguide.

“Consumers love the ability to speak to their phones and apps,” said Matt Revis, vice president and general manager, handset business, Nuance Mobile. “NDEV Mobile empowers social app developers like Snapguide to deliver that experience to their users. And because it’s powered by Dragon, people are amazed at the quality of the experience – be it sending an email, or sharing ideas with friends and family via Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.”

Nuance’s Dragon Mobile SDK lets developers rapidly bring voice-enabled apps to market, even if they have never previously implemented speech technology. The Dragon Mobile SDK powers the voice recognition and speech-to-text capabilities of some of the most popular apps on the market, including Price Check by Amazon, Kraft Foods’ iFood Assistant, Ask for iPhone, Merriam-Webster, Dictionary.com, Shopping List from Recipe.com, OnStar RemoteLink, iTranslate, Bon’App, and more.

Nuance’s mobile voice technology, featured as part of the Dragon Mobile SDK and renowned Dragon Mobile Apps family, brings the power of Dragon Naturally Speaking to a variety of applications and services – supporting a broad range of languages. Nuance’s portfolio of speech and predictive text solutions are trusted by the world’s leading manufacturers and mobile operators, and are found in billions of phones and millions of automobiles and consumer electronic devices – making them among the most pervasive mobile solutions on the market today.
