Select Apple Retail Stores in New York City will participate in the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival by hosting free events and workshops open to the public, Apple announced on its website Monday. The events, taking place at the West 14th Street and SoHo Apple Stores, will run from Friday, April 20 through Saturday, April 28.

Among the planned events are “Meet the Filmmakers” sessions, featuring “behind the scenes” discussions from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Emily Blunt, Morgan Spurlock, Jenna Fischer, and Freida Pinto, among others.

In addition, Apple will provide exclusive workshops focusing on Final Cut Pro, iPad photo and video editing, iWork for Filmmakers, and integrating social networking into feature film production.

Those interested in attending the Festival, which runs from April 19 through April 29, can check out the free “Tribeca Film Festival” app from the iTunes App Store, which details all the films, events, and alerts needed to stay informed during the 11 day event.

The Tribeca Film Festival was founded in 2002 by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro, and Craig Hatkoff to address and restore the vitality of the TriBeCa (“Triangle Below Canal”) neighborhood in Lower Manhattan following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Its mission is “to enable the international film community and the general public to experience the power of film by redefining the film festival experience.”
