“The Book of Mormon” star Josh Gad is in talks to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak opposite Ashton Kutcher in Joshua Michael Stern’s indie “Jobs.”
Written by Matt Whiteley, pic chronicles Steve Jobs from wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple, where he became one of the most revered creative entrepreneurs of our time.
Gad is making a deal to play Wozniak, who created the Apple I computer and co-created the Apple II computer in the mid-1970s.
Five Star Institute’s Mark Hulme is financing and will produce the pic, which is skedded to start production in May while Kutcher is on hiatus from his hit CBS series “Two and a Half Men.” CAA is repping the pic’s domestic distribution rights.
A triple threat in film, TV and theater, Gad recently earned a Tony nomination for his perf in Broadway smash “The Book of Mormon” and is set to star in the NBC pilot “1600 Penn,” a family comedy set in the White House that Gad co-created and will exec produce. Thesp recently wrapped Stuart Blumberg‘s sex addiction pic “Thanks for Sharing,” which co-stars “The Avengers” thesps Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow. He’ll also voice roles in “Ice Age: Continental Drift” and “Me and My Shadow.”
